Rann Utsav 2022-2023: Rann Utsav is also known as Rann of Kutch Festival or Festival of Rann. The Kutch Rann Utsav is a three-month-long cultural and artistic festival which is organized by the Gujarat Tourism Department every year at Kutch in the village of Dhordo. This year Rann Utsav starts from 1 November 2022 – 20 February 2023.
Know About Rann Utsav
Dhordo is a small Village in Bhuj Taluka in the Kutch District of Gujarat State, India. Every year in the winter months, a Tent City is created near Dhordo village called Rann Utsav. Distance from Bhuj to Tent City, Dhordo is approx. 80 km, which takes about 1 hr 30 min and 410 KM from Ahmedabad which takes about 7 hr 30 min.
The Rann Utsav started in 2005, and it was initially held for three days, which later extended to a span of 100-day celebration at Dhordo, a village near Rann of Kutch due to the overwhelming response from the people. Where a whole new tent city has been created, replete with temporary infrastructure built and rebuilt every year. Rann Utsav was organized by the Tourism Department of Gujarat every year with grand celebrations.
The most important attraction of the festival is experiencing the full moon days at the Rann of Kutch. During the winter times, the salt marshy lands of Kutch remain with salt crystals that look very authentic and mesmerizing.
Rann Utsav is one of the most eagerly-awaited tourism events in India that attracts a huge number of domestic and international tourists.

This year The Kutch Rann Utsav 2022-2023 Starting from 1 November 2022 – 20 February 2023.
The Tourism Department of Gujarat organise an annual festival during the winter months called the Rann Utsav (Festival of Rann), It is one of the most vibrant and unique festivals in India where tourists can see the various sights of the Rann.
Venue of the Rann Utsav 2022-2023 Fest
The Carnival of Rann Utsav venue is at Dhordo village popularly known as “Tent City” in Kutch. Every year the festival will take place here only. The Dhordo village sets up with nearly 400 Tents to stay in.
Tourists at the white desert festival can choose different tents according to their requirements. And here the available tent types are PM Suite, Darbari Suite, Mini Darbari Suite, Non AC Swiss Tents, Deluxe AC Swiss Tents and Premium Tents. These tents will cost anywhere between Rs 6,500 and Rs 9,100 per night, with prices escalating during the full moon night. All the tents are equipped with a bathroom and dining area. Tent city offers free WiFi, a Kids’ club and a beautiful garden.

Important Tips to Remember during your visit to Rann Utsav
- It is advised to always pre-book everything needed for your journey. Make your bookings at least 2 months in advance.
- You shall require a government pass to visit Kutch due to its proximity to the border. Passes are easily available at the check post in Bhirandiyra. You shall need passes for all days and it’s sufficient if one member of the group has a photo ID in hand.
- Rann festival is one of the most famous festivals and is celebrated in winter so keep woollen clothes to keep you warm and you can enjoy the festival
- The best time to visit the festival on the full moon time as the atmosphere is romantic and beautiful.

The nearest airport to reach Kutch is Bhuj airport and an international airport near Kutch is Ahmedabad airport.
By Rail:
The Nearest Railway station to reach Kutch is the Bhuj railway station. It has a good network with all major cities, Ahmedabad & Mumbai.
By Road:
Roadways are the best and most easily accessible mode of travel to reach Kutch. Kutch is well-connected to surrounding major cities like Bhuj.
